The Alliance calls on international donors to seize the chance to save more lives, prevent more infections and ultimately defeat AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria by recommitting to the Global Fund in its 2014-2016 replenishment conference in Autumn 2013.
As the Global Fund prepares to roll-out a New Funding Model (NFM) which aims to simplify its application process, better identify country needs and enhance participation, particularly among key stakeholders, we outline the key opportunities and challenges for civil society engagement.
Last year our Linking Organisation in Senegal, ANCS, reached a record breaking 1.3 million people with targeted HIV prevention, care and support services for women and vulnerable groups such as female sex workers and men who have sex with men. 95% of this reach was with the support of the Global Fund. We take a look at the pro’s and con’s of working with the Fund.

The Executive Director of our linking organisation in Burkina Faso is moving on after six years working to strengthen civil society within the national HIV response.
Our latest peer reviewed publication addressing the uptake of anti-retroviral drugs for prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV in sub-Saharan Africa, has just been published in the Journal of the International AIDS Society.
