The Alliance has responded to today’s announcement by the Secretary of State for International Development, Justine Greening, that the UK government is to commit £1 billion to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria over the next three years.

The Grant Management Solutions (GMS) project, which works with the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), provides technical support to countries experiencing challenges implementing grants from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund).
The International HIV/AIDS Alliance in Ukraine has reached an agreement with MSD, one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical producers, to more than halve the cost of a 48 week treatment course for Hepatitis C for its project in Ukraine.

The Alliance calls on international donors to seize the chance to save more lives, prevent more infections and ultimately defeat AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria by recommitting to the Global Fund in its 2014-2016 replenishment conference in Autumn 2013.
As the Global Fund prepares to roll-out a New Funding Model (NFM) which aims to simplify its application process, better identify country needs and enhance participation, particularly among key stakeholders, we outline the key opportunities and challenges for civil society engagement.
Last year our Linking Organisation in Senegal, ANCS, reached a record breaking 1.3 million people with targeted HIV prevention, care and support services for women and vulnerable groups such as female sex workers and men who have sex with men. 95% of this reach was with the support of the Global Fund. We take a look at the pro’s and con’s of working with the Fund.
