Alliance Linking Organisations in Latin America and the Caribbean, along with their strategic partners REDLACTRANS and RedTraSex, have used the occasion of World AIDS Day 2012 to sound a warning about the impact of criminal law being applied to those who transmit or expose others to HIV infection.
As we mark World AIDS Day 2012 we do so with the knowledge that, if new opportunities are seized, for the first time in the global HIV response, achieving an HIV-free generation† is possible.

The Alliance is speaking this week at a UK parliamentary event on health in the post-2015 development framework.
The new UNAIDS report on the Global AIDS Epidemic for 2012 indicates that recent progress on the HIV response has been uneven and that, since 2001, the number of people newly infected in the Middle East and North Africa increased by more than 35% and that there has also been an increase in new HIV infections in Eastern Europe and Central Asia in recent years.
