Global Fund chair resigns

Aids Alliance

The Alliance is extremely saddened by the news that Alliance trustee, Martin Dinham, has had to resign from his position as Chair of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria due to ill health.

Martin took up his position in May following his election at the 23rd Board Meeting of the Global Fund in Geneva.

Speaking as a member of the Developed Country NGO Delegation of the Global Fund, Alliance Executive Director Alvaro Bermejo said, ‘Martin threw himself into the job and has shown fantastic leadership as Board Chair. The changes and priorities he has set shows the way we need to move. It will no doubt be a significant loss but we understand that Martin’s health is his priority.’

‘We are convinced that Vice Chair, Minister Mphu Ramatlapeng will continue to lead the Board along the path they had designed together until an alternative chair is nominated and appointed.’

Martin hopes to continue in his role as a trustee of the Alliance, although he will be taking a short break until his health improves.  Everyone in the Alliance sends their best wishes and support to Martin and his family at this difficult time.
