Shell’s partnership with MAC via the gas cylinder sponsorship is entering its third year, having grown from a pilot project in four shelter homes to a nationwide initiative today.
The partnership was celebrated at a launch ceremony on the 16th of February that was jointly officiated by Tan Sri Mohd Zaman Khan, President of the Malaysian AIDS Council and Julianna Kamaruddin, General Manager of Shell Gas (LPG), Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd.
At the event Tan Sri Mohd Zaman Khan said “Shell’s cooking gas sponsorship to shelter homes for Malaysians living with HIV is a clear testament of its continuing commitment to HIV/AIDS causes.”
Shell Malaysia is actively working to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS amongst employees and has developed a strong partnership with the MAC since 2010.
In her speech, Julianna Kamaruddin said, “Shell takes the issue of HIV and AIDS seriously. We believe we can make a contribution to help mitigate the spread of the disease. Internally, we are taking steps to protect our employees from the disease, to care for those who are infected, and to work with others to fight the spread of AIDS."
