International HIV/AIDS Alliance seeks new trustees

Aids Alliance

We are recruiting trustees to lead the Alliance through its ambitious programme to help curb the HIV epidemic and ensure universal access to comprehensive HIV services.

We are looking for individuals with an interest in international development issues and HIV/AIDS and a strong belief in the values of the Alliance, especially in supporting communities and local NGOs in developing countries to build their capacity and skills to ensure sustainable development. Individuals do not need to be based in the UK to be considered.

We are specifically seeking:

Individuals directly representing key population communities. Key populations include those particularly vulnerable to and affected by the HIV epidemic and who are key to both the dynamics of and the response to the epidemic. Individuals are not required to formally represent or consult with their respective community network or constituency.

Individuals with high level governance or management experience in and connections with the private sector to contribute this particular expertise to the Alliance’s leadership and approach.

An in-depth knowledge and experience of one or more of the following areas is essential:

  • Community responses and systems
  • Civil society leadership
  • Commercial and private sectors
  • Public/private partnerships including income generation
  • Finance/audit
  • Communications

Good communication skills in English are also essential. Personal experience of the impact of HIV/AIDS is desirable.

These are unpaid appointments, but expenses to twice-yearly Board meetings in Brighton (UK) and in developing countries will be reimbursed. Trustees are appointed for an initial term of three years, but may be re-appointed for two further terms.
