Aids Alliance

In advance of the London Family Planning Summit (11 July) the Alliance is joining the UK SRHR Network and the UK AIDS Consortium in asking civil society networks and organisations to support their key messages on family planning and HIV integration.

The London Family Planning Summit is being hosted by the UK Government and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

It will see the launch of a groundbreaking effort to make available affordable, lifesaving contraceptive information, services, and supplies to an additional 120 million women and girls in the world’s poorest countries by 2020.

The Alliance, as part of the UK SRHR Network and the UK AIDS Consortium, has co-organised a side session at the summit, ‘RAISE the bar: improving women’s health through strong linkages’, on family planning and HIV integration.

The Network and the Consortium, with other civil society networks/organisations have coordinated key messages around family planning and HIV integration for the side event and are asking organisations/networks to sign-on to the attached messages to show solidarity around the importance of integration and rights-based programming.

You can view the joint messages here.

If your organisation/network would like to support these messages, please email Felicia Wong (fwong@aidsalliance.org), Policy Advisor by 3pm UK time on Thursday, 28 June.

You can also like the statement on the Consortium Facebook page.

You can find out from your Ministry of Health if your country will be attending the summit. The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is leading civil society engagement and your local member affiliate may also be able to provide you with additional information about engaging with the Summit at the country level. You are welcome to use the messaging to help your country’s delegation to include HIV within its commitment to address access to family planning.
