Aids Alliance

ViiV Healthcare has launched an online ‘tour’ of the Alliance’s Vida Digna project, which tackles HIV related stigma, discrimination and violence against key affected populations in Latin America.

The project, which ViiV Healthcare funds, supports people living with HIV, men who have sex with men, sex workers, transgender people and people who use drugs. It was designed and first implemented by Colectivo Sol, our Linking Organisation in Mexico, and has since been expanded by the Alliance and its partners to cover El Salvador and five countries in Central America. Vida Digna means ‘life with dignity’.

Viiv Healthcare’s project tours illustrate some of the diverse initiatives it supports. The tours are given by those working on the ground for the projects, the people who work to bring the project’s vision and goals to life.

In the tour you can:

  • Find out about the pervading discrimination and mistreatment faced by key populations in Latin America.
  • Read about the project’s aims, achievements and impact so far, and what lessons have been learned along the way.
  • Watch interviews with people who have been instrumental in the project’s success: Juan Jacobo Hernández, the General Director of Colectivo Sol, Julio Ramirez, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at Atlacatl (our Linking Organisation in El Salvador), Elena Reynaga and Marcela Romero from the regional networks from RedTraSex and REDLACTRANS respectively.
