The portal will prioritize the more active involvement of its members in its expansion and development.
The International HIV/AIDS Alliance and the UK Consortium on AIDS and International Development launched PortalSIDA in July last year. The website provides Spanish language tools to support collaboration and knowledge sharing among new and existing networks of people responding to the AIDS epidemic.
To encourage more users this year, PortalSIDA will run demonstration workshops at key regional AIDS events, such as the Regional AIDS Forum in Lima, Peru and the Central America AIDS Conference (CONCASIDA) in San Jose, Costa Rica.
In February, the portal will launch a new discussion forum on transgender people and HIV, similar to the forum on sex workers in 2008.
The PortalSIDA team continues to work in partnership with the UK AIDSPortal team to trial new technologies and develop the portals.
