Aids Alliance

The USAID funded global HIV and AIDS project, AIDSTAR-One, has recently released a case study examining the efforts of the Alliance Ukraine to reach most-at-risk populations and prevent HIV.

Alliance Ukraine provides the majority of HIV prevention services in Ukraine, working with partner organisations to deliver a range of services targeting the main driver of the country’s HIV epidemic: injecting drug use. Other work includes evidence-based programming, community engagement, advocacy for supportive policies, and linkages to government services

The US government has been supporting Alliance Ukraine for many years now, both through the Alliance secretariat as well as through US contributions to the Global Fund.

AIDSTAR-One’s main function is to provide targeted assistance in knowledge management, programme implementation support, technical leadership and programme planning and strategy.

Lessons are shared in the global effort to combat HIV through technical briefs, case studies and a database of good and promising HIV programming related to HIV prevention, care and treatment.
