Over three years, the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development will provide up to $6,600,000 in total, to a number of organisations working across eight zones.
Grants will be implemented through the Strengthening Ugandan National Response for Implementation of Services for OVC (SUNRISE-OVC) project, which is the culmination of six years of collaboration between the US Government, the Government of Uganda and civil society (via the International HIV/AIDS Alliance in Uganda). The aim is to ensure that orphans and other vulnerable children realize their full rights to survival, development, protection, and participation.
There are a number of criteria that organisations need to meet. These include:
- At least four years experience with social service delivery programs in Uganda. Experience with social protection programs for vulnerable children is preferred.
- At least four years of experience of technical and institutional systems strengthening for local governments and/or public sector institutions
- Applicants must have been legally registered in Uganda before 01 January 2007.
- Applicants must be able to provide documents including their most recent annual program report and audited financial statement or certified annual financial report.
