Aids Alliance

Last month, a number of States proposed an amendment to remove an explicit reference to sexual orientation from an important UN resolution on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions. The amendment was passed on 16 November.

For more information please refer to a statement made by the Alliance on this issue.

However, States will have the opportunity to restore the reference to sexual orientation – and hopefully extend it to also include gender identity – when the resolution comes up before the UN General Assembly later TODAY, Monday 20 December.

Please join and distribute an urgent action by the MSM Global Forum to urge your government to support language in the resolution calling on States to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons from unlawful killings.

Update

UN member states have now voted to reinstate the reference to sexual orientation to the resolution. This is fantastic news, thank you to everyone who took action on this.
