At its meeting on the 8 December, the Accreditation Committee decided that MONASO, the Mozambique National AIDS Services Organisations, was eligible to sign the Alliance Charter & Linking Agreement and so become Alliance Linking Organisation.
MONASO is a network of AIDS Services Organisations in Mozambique with 18 years experience working in mobilising and building capacity of civil society organisations to have an effective response in fighting HIV/AIDS. This year MONASO co-hosted the Alliance’s highly successful Blue Sky Week.
Mozambique has the tenth highest HIV prevalence in the world. Currently MONASO has more than 1400 members and it is reaching 102 districts. MONASO has representation in key HIV coordination mechanisms such as the Global Fund CCM, the NAC Board and Partners Forum and the Health Partners Group.
In 2011 MONASO intends to strengthen their experience, knowledge and
strategies through the Alliance family as well as to share their
experience with the other Linking Organisations.
