Pehchan is a new five-year project funded through the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. It will provide HIV prevention services for men who have sex with men (MSM), transgender and hijra communities in 17 out of 35 states in India.
Humsafar Trust will provide organisational development support to community based organisations working with these communities to increase the number of people who can access quality services.
Set up in 1994 by leading gay rights activist Ashok Row Kavi, Humsafar Trust is a pioneer among organisations for men who have sex with men and transgender people in India. It has successfully linked community advocacy and supported activities to the development of effective HIV prevention and health services.
