CASE STUDY:
TS Hub (Eastern Europe): HIV in the workplace training for Shell Corporation

OVERVIEW

Alliance Regional Technical Support Hub in Eastern Europe and Central Asia (hosted by Alliance Ukraine) undertakes assignment providing HIV in the workplace training for Shell Corporation employees.

IMPACT

Post training evaluations demonstrated that a two hour interactive training session can have an important impact on the knowledge and attitude employees.

CASE STUDY

    200 employees participated through nine training sessions.

Shell Corporation has been an active donor to the Alliance Ukraine since 2007, and late in 2009 it approached the Alliance Regional Technical Support hub (which is hosted by Alliance Ukraine) to request its services in conducting “HIV in the workplace” awareness training for its employees.

This assignment, which was the hub’s first experience of providing technical support to the private sector, was a success thanks to the active involvement of Olena Purick (the editor of the Russian edition of “People and HIV” and Behaviour Change Communication Advisor to Alliance Ukraine).

Nine sessions were conducted (eight in Russian and one in English) with the participation of more than 200 employees.
