Access to rights and services of people living with HIV in Ukraine Access to rights and services of people living with HIV in Ukraine (English) 849.8Kb
The availability of medical and social services and non-discrimination of people living with HIV (PLHA) are important prerequisites of an effective response to the HIV epidemic. Knowing how PLHA perceive this context is important in evaluating the effectiveness of current interventions and in planning future initiatives.

This report draws on research that was conducted by representatives of the All-Ukrainian Network of PLHA in 14 (out of 27) regions of Ukraine, with the support of the International HIV/AIDS Alliance in Ukraine, as part of the Global Fund grant to Ukraine.

The report evaluates the accessibility of prevention and treatment of opportunistic infections and of social and psychological support and counselling for PLHA; it provides quantitative information about PLHA’s awareness of their rights and benefits, describes cases where their rights have been violated, and features their perceptions of the attitudes towards them by different social groups. It is intended that this research will provide support for activities directed towards the protection of the rights of PLHA and the provision of social and medical services guaranteed by the state.
