Voices from Zambian communities
Experiences of HIV/AIDS-related treatment in urban and rural settings
| Voices from Zambian communities – Experiences of HIV/AIDS-related treatment in urban and rural settings (English) 1.13Mb | |
| Twenty per cent of Zambian adults are living with HIV/AIDS, but until recently very few had access to treatment because of the high cost of antiretroviral (ARV) drugs. Now the price has dropped, the treatment is being scaled up, but research is needed to make sure it is offered in ways that are practical for the people who use it.
Our Zambian country office piloted a series of consultations with individuals and community organisations, to respect their rights and abilities to respond to their own needs, to work with them to understand their priorities, and to make sure the new ARV programmes work for everyone, including marginalised groups. This publication presents results of the consultations. It includes individual case studies and a practical guide to running a consultation on HIV/AIDS-related treatment. |
