Integrating HIV/AIDS and TB services – A practical resource
| Integrating HIV/AIDS and TB services – A practical resource (English) 1.73Mb | |
| HIV and TB are clearly linked: the HIV epidemic presents a massive challenge to the global control of TB, while TB is one of the leading causes of death in people living with HIV.
This publication reports back on a workshop held in Magaliesburg, South Africa, in 2003, that brought together a group of experts, from Cambodia, India, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe, to share experiences and lessons learned in integrating HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis services. It shares the participants’ experience and knowledge about HIV and TB and provides practical guidance on effectively integrating HIV and TB services, arguing that to stem the tide of both epidemics, HIV prevention should be a priority for TB-control programmes, while HIV programmes should prioritise TB prevention and care. |
