GALLERY: Demanding equal rights to HIV & SRHR services in Nigeria
Nigeria has one of the highest rates of new HIV infections in Africa. Yet access to services for some of the most marginalised and affected groups – lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, adolescents and young women, sex workers and people who use drugs - remains a barrier to effective prevention, treatment and care to tackle new infections and provide sexual reproductive health and rights services that many people want and need.
A group of 13 advocates in PITCH are training in participatory photography to create a series of images to highlight challenges faced by the people and communities they represent, including stigma from healthcare workers and discrimination resulting in violence and incarceration.
In the first of a series of photographs, the advocates show us why there is an urgent need for local and national level policy change; social inclusion and improvements to service delivery.
PITCH is a multi-country partnership between the Alliance, Aidsfonds and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
