Senegal has a concentrated epidemic with a very high HIV prevalence among key populations such as men who have sex with men (21.8%), and sex workers (18.5%). The country has also witnessed an increased feminisation of the HIV epidemic, with 0.8% of women infected, compared to 0.5% of men.
Consequently much of ANCS’ work focuses on preventing HIV among key populations and women.
With the support of the Global Fund, ANCS is working to accelerate universal access to prevention, care, treatment and support services. ANCS is one the Principal Recipients for Global Fund Round 9 (GFR9) in Senegal, together with the Ministry of Health and the National AIDS Council. The GFR9 focuses on:
