Alliance builds its knowledge sharing and learning

07 November 2005

The Alliance has launched a new intranet to facilitate information sharing across the organisation. The intranet, a web-based network accessible only to Alliance staff and linked members, enables Alliance country offices, national linking organisations and its secretariat to share information and learning online, and build a knowledge network that can help develop better responses to the epidemic.

Alliance executive director Alvaro Bermejo, said, “The intranet has been put in place because the Alliance recognises the importance of the collective knowledge it holds, and the value of sharing it at all levels, across all offices. The new intranet will enable the Alliance to make more effective use of time, work smarter, and learn faster. Another benefit to the Alliance and its partners is the way the intranet can help build the visibility and value of communications and reinforce cross-Alliance relationships.”

The intranet is also an excellent way of strengthening the way the Alliance communicates internally. Staff are already examining how they can best share their knowledge, news and resources organisation-wide. It is hoped that this strategic approach to information sharing will reap benefits, with strengthened cross-team, department and office communication.
