Essential HIV treatment and care in primary care settings
|
This manual is intended for use by primary care health workers in resource-limited settings. It provides a comprehensive description of the common clinical manifestations of HIV and gives practical guidelines for the management of HIV in primary care and community settings. The clinical guidelines in this manual have been simplified so that they are user friendly. The manual also includes sections on HIV in pregnancy, children’s issues and an anti-retroviral/ opportunistic infection treatment formulary. This manual was developed to support access to comprehensive services within the Frontier’s Prevention Project (FPP), which is the Alliance’s multi-country HIV and STI prevention programme. The focus of FPP is to provide comprehensive service delivery to key population groups in countries where the epidemic is concentrated within certain groups (men who have sex with men, sex workers and injecting drug users). However, this manual will also be useful in other situations at primary care, local or district level. |
