As the International Day of Action Against Homophobia approaches, the Alliance’s Executive Director urges governments and organisations to intensify action, in light of how homophobia and discrimination fuels HIV and exacerbates its impact.

Supporting China's communities of men who have sex with men

In March, Hong Kong AIDS Concern’s Lau Chi Chung shared his prevention programme experience with men from community groups supported by the Alliance, where he cautioned against targeting sectors of the community that are easier to reach over those who are more vulnerable.

Developing organisations and challenging stigma in China

With the aim of building sustainability into programming, the Alliance held workshops for leaders from groups of people living with HIV/AIDS to build capacity to address stigma, whilst looking at organisational development.


Alliance scales up anti-retroviral and substitution therapy programmes in Ukraine

2,766 people are receiving anti-retroviral treatment within the framework of the Global Fund-supported Overcoming the HIV/AIDS Epidemic in Ukraine programme, and anti-retrovirals are becoming available in more regions

The UNGASS and universal access meetings will provide an unparalleled opportunity to scale up the provision of treatment and prevention services, and community involvement and human rights issues must play a key part

At a global conference on women, HIV, and human rights, the Alliance called for efforts to ensure that those most affected by HIV/AIDS participate in policy and decision-making processes.

Cambodia photo story: photographer wins award

Photographs of partner NGOs of the Alliance linking organisation in Cambodia, KHANA, have won photographer Michael Nott a Guardian/Royal Photographic Society award for overseas journalism. Some of these photos were featured in The Guardian newspaper on 14 April.

Michael has since returned to Cambodia, sponsored by The Guardian, to take more photos of the projects.
