Sharing good practice on support to orphans and vulnerable children: the online toolkit and CD-ROM www.ovcsupport.net
Monday 14 August. Time: 07:00-08:30. Location: Skills Building Room 7, Level 800, South Building, Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
This session will give participants an introduction to the website and CD-ROM of www.ovcsupport.net. This online toolkit contains over 600 resources giving comprehensive coverage of all aspects of support to orphans and vulnerable children affected by HIV/AIDS. The toolkit has a classification system and each section and sub-section has guidance and information to support the electronic resources that are provided.
The session, presented by Kate Harrison, Senior Technical Advisor: Children, International HIV/AIDS Alliance will be a demonstration of the toolkit in action, using ideas and questions from participants to guide the exploration of the toolkit.
Activities:
- Introduction to www.ovcsupport.net including development, background structure
- Small group discussion in topic areas, discussing how participants currently locate and share information, the classification system used in the toolkit, and preparing questions for the plenary.
- Demonstration of the toolkit using specific questions generated by the small group work.
- Plenary and close
