Doctors receive training in paediatric care

Alliance India has facilitated paediatric HIV and AIDS care training for medical doctors in Tamil Nadu, including those in private practice, those working with the government, specialists and medical officers from the government antiretroviral therapy clinic in Coimbatore.

The purpose of the training was to update their knowledge of paediatric HIV and AIDS care and build their skills in working with children with HIV. It involved:

  • comprehensive paediatric HIV and AIDS care
  • early detection of HIV and AIDS in children and appropriate treatment
  • opportunistic infections in HIV positive children
  • growth development
  • nutrition
  • paediatric antiretroviral treatment.

The manual Essential HIV treatment and care in primary care settings, developed by Alliance India, was also shared with each participant.
