Collaboration in Myanmar “fruitful” for Alliance linking organisations
26 February 2007
Alliance linking organisation Khmer HIV/AIDS NGO Alliance (KHANA) has facilitated a training course in Myanmar for Alliance implementing partners.
It is the first time that the Cambodian non-governmental organisation has delivered technical support and consultancy to their regional partner.
As a successful example of joint working, it reflects the Alliance’s commitment to strengthening south-to-south co-operation. Building effective international collaboration between strong national linking organisations is a key Alliance strategy.
The purpose of the training course in Rangoon, Myanmar, was to upgrade the capacity of Alliance implementing partners in community home-based care and enable them to take back new knowledge and skills to their workplaces.
KHANA's Leng Kuoy said that it had been “very fruitful” for KHANA, the Alliance in Myanmar and their partners to strengthen co-operation, and exchange and share knowledge and experience with each other “in the spirit of the Alliance family”.
The ten-day training course (from 27 November to 8 December 2006) was developed by KHANA, the Yangon-based Alliance and the Alliance secretariat. KHANA provided input into the training design from Cambodian HIV experts Kong Sopheap, team leader of KHANA's Integrated Care and Prevention Programme, Leng Kuoy, team leader of KHANA's Management and Evaluation, and San Vandin, executive director of Partners for Compassion, one of KHANA's non-governmental organisation partners.
Highlighting the value of Alliance linking organisations sharing best practice, Leng Kuoy said he was “very proud” that KHANA could provide technical support and consultancy to a southern partner.
