Stigma and discrimination

Effective responses impossible so long as stigma goes unaddressed

If the goal of universal access to comprehensive prevention, treatment, care and support by 2010 is to be met, stigma and discrimination must be addressed. In this special focus on stigma and discrimination, case studies and

testimonies highlight some of the barriers that stigma and discrimination present. We also look at some of the work that the Alliance and partners are implementing to address these barriers – from one-on-one support right through to working with national governments.

Senegal's civil society response a model of best practice, says Global Fund
The civil society response in Senegal, spearheaded by Alliance linking organisation ANCS, has been instrumental in maintaining the Global Fund grant following its threatened withdrawal.
