Minimum service package agreed for vulnerable groups in Senegal
28 March 2007
Key players involved in community care and support for orphans and vulnerable children and people living with HIV have agreed a minimum package of services in Senegal. They also said at an information-sharing workshop in February that they would aim to coordinate their activities better.
The workshop, organised by Hope for African Children Initiative and Alliance linking organisation Alliance Nationale Contre le SIDA, was called to ensure better community care and support for these vulnerable groups. Hope for African Children Initiative is a Global Fund sub-recipient implementing the strategic component on community-based prevention, care and support for people living with HIV and orphans and vulnerable children.
The definition of a minimum service package was reached by sharing the partner associations’ experiences implementing the community care and support activities.
Led by Ndèye Fatou Ngom from the Outpatients’ Treatment Centre, the workshop was attended by leaders of associations of people living with HIV, members of orphan and vulnerable children care and support associations, resource staff from training organisations and representatives from the STI/AIDS Division and the LFA.
