Board participation
In September 2006, Alliance staff member Shaun Mellors started his role as the Communication Focal Point for the communities’ (NGOs representative of the Communities Living with HIV, Tuberculosis and affected by Malaria) delegation to the Global Fund. Shaun is keen to ensure that strategic relationships are formed and strengthened between national and regional partners and that communities and organisations become more actively involved in the Global Fund’s work.
Alliance staff member Javier Hourcade Bellocq is alternate board member for the communities’ delegation, and becomes board member in October 2007. The delegation is committed to bringing the voices and needs of people living with and affected by HIV, tuberculosis and malaria to the deliberations of the Global Fund board and committees.
And in 2006, Alliance India’s Anandi Yuvaraj successfully completed her two-year term on the board, where she was instrumental in establishing systems to strengthen the participation of the communities’ delegation.
