Anglophone Africa monitoring and evaluation staff learn from each other
27 June 2007

An Alliance-organised monitoring and evaluation workshop in Zambia for linking organisation and country office partners in Anglophone Africa has given staff a rich opportunity to share experiences and learn about good practice from colleagues. A closer working relationship with the Zambian National Aids Commission (NAC) may also develop out of their participation.
Third in a series of regional workshops on monitoring and evaluation, it has given a platform to monitoring and evaluation officers and programme officers with monitoring and evaluation responsibility from Sudan, Uganda, Zambia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Nigeria. The main facilitators were from the Alliance, with co-facilitators drawn from linking organisation and country office participants. Previous workshops have taken place in Thailand in March for Asian and Eastern Europe countries, and in Morocco in April for Francophone African countries.
The workshop in June also included half-day field visits to two organisations in Kabwe – Positive Women Network and Dackana Home-based Care and Support – to learn about their monitoring and evaluation systems and processes.
The Anglophone Africa M&E Learning Group, launched during the workshop, will make sure that key points, actions and recommendations from the workshop are implemented and that lessons and experiences are shared. It will also strengthen continued collaboration and capacity-building among members.
"It was a nice experience sharing and learning with all participants during the M&E workshop. I hope to continue connecting and learning with everyone," Femi Dare, NELA, Nigeria
"It was indeed a very good workshop. I’m looking forward to the launch of the Anglophone Africa M&E Learning Group!" Robert Haloba, Alliance Zambia
"It was great to meet and mix with all participants during my memorable visit to Lusaka. Let’s keep the Community of Practice M&E plus social contacts alive." Boniface, MAC, Zimbabwe
