The Alliance’s work tackling HIV in Zambia was highly commended in the international aid and development category of the 2007 Charity Awards, announced on 21 June.


World Bank funding secured for Central Asia: a first!

The World Bank has agreed to fund an Alliance project aimed at reducing the spread of HIV and mitigating the impact of AIDS in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

Evidence for Action, one year on

Maximising effective management at the Alliance
In April 2007, five candidates from across the Alliance started the International Masters Programme in Practicing Management. The programme will create a group of senior managers with advanced skills in leadership and organisational strategy to help the development of the Alliance.

New resources

New tools to break down stigma

The Alliance has developed a revised edition of the anti-stigma toolkit Understanding and challenging HIV stigma: Toolkit for action and it is now available to download.

A trainer’s viewpoint: trainers who have attended stigma-reduction training of trainers workshops in Kenya describe some of the ways the training has affected their lives and their communities.


New guidelines on community involvement in national AIDS responses
The Alliance, the International Council of AIDS Service Organizations, the African Council of AIDS Service Organizations and UNAIDS, have together produced a set of guidelines that aims to increase the involvement of the community sector in the development, implementation and monitoring of national AIDS responses. The guidelines, Coordinating with Communities, can be used to assess current community sector involvement, to develop an action plan to increase involvement, and as an advocacy tool.
