About web feeds

Web feeds allow you to stay updated with new website content without having to keep visiting web pages directly or searching for the content. Also known as news feeds or RSS feeds, they deliver the latest content from your chosen web pages directly to you.

The Alliance has set up feeds for its news, jobs, new publications and press releases website pages.

How do I start using web feeds to receive Alliance content?

You need to have a piece of software called a feed (or news or RSS) reader (also known as an aggregator). The readers regularly check the content that you have subscribed to and deliver any changes or new content to you.

There are a number of different readers available for different platforms, some of which you can access via a web browser, and some of which you can download. Browser-based readers let you read your web feed subscriptions from any computer, while downloadable readers let you store the feeds on your computer. You can also access feeds via mobile phones and email.

Once you have chosen the feed reader that best suits you, choose the content you want to receive. Click on the orange RSS button on the Alliance’s news, jobs, new publications and/or press releases pages and you will have a number of options for subscribing to the feed, including dragging the URL into your newsreader, or cutting and pasting the same URL into a new feed. Some browsers, such as Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer, automatically check for feeds when you visit a website.

Using Alliance feeds on your website

We encourage the use of Alliance feeds as part of your website. However, we require that, wherever Alliance content appears, the proper format and attribution be used. The attribution text should read "International HIV/AIDS Alliance" or "www.aidsalliance.org" as appropriate. You may not use any Alliance logo.
