Alliance workshop helps participants to apply for Global Fund Round 8 funding

From 31 March to 1 April 2008, the Alliance secretariat hosted a workshop to support applicants with their Global Fund Round 8 proposals. The workshop allowed participants including national and international civil society organisations (including Alliance members) and representatives from Country Coordinating Mechanisms, to share their experiences, make useful contacts, and learn from successful Global Fund grant recipients.
The workshop was in two parts – the first part addressed strategic issues around Round 8 from the perspective of both the Global Fund and applicants, and the second part aimed to build influencing and negotiating skills to support participation in Country Coordinating Mechanisms.
Topics covered included factors for quality proposals, new opportunities in Round 8, understanding guidelines, engaging with the Country Coordinating Mechanisms, and with communication and negotiating skills.
The workshop ended with participants reviewing their learning and identifying next steps.
The workshop was funded by UNAIDS and the Open Society Institute.
