The Positive Leadership Summit, Living 2008, takes place on 31 July and 1 August bringing together leaders living with HIV from around the world.The summit is designed to harness the wisdom and experience of people living with HIV in order to increase understanding and decrease the stigma that still surrounds HIV. At the summit, which immediately precedes the 17th International AIDS Conference in Mexico City, 350 HIV-positive global leaders and advocates from 88 countries will come together to discuss themes including:
- Universal access to HIV treatment, care and prevention programmes
- Prevention, with a focus on Positive Prevention
- Sexual and reproductive health and rights of people living with HIV
- Criminalization of the transmission of HIV
- Cross cutting issues include women and most at-risk groups.
With a unique perspective on treatment, care and prevention issues, as well as HIV-related stigma and discrimination, LIVING 2008 delegates represent the faces behind the statistics and will drive the agenda of AIDS 2008.
