In the Old Customs Yard Prison in Juba, South Sudan, men crowd around second lieutenant Jenario Tombe Kuwjok, from the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) HIV secretariat. He is giving HIV education and providing voluntary counselling and testing to military prisoners.
Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti on 12 January the Alliance is working with its partner POZ, donors and emergency response agencies to try to ensure people living with HIV can access basic services.
Last year we distributed 25,000 resources globally to support HIV and health programming in developing countries.

Training modules resulting from a workshop organised by Alliance India will be a key new tool in meeting the needs of men who have sex with men (MSM), and transgender and hijra communities across India.
Following an Alliance learning exchange between India and Ukraine at the end of last year, peer outreach will become a key component in Alliance programmes aiming to engage with hidden female drug users in Manipur.

Since summer 2009 the Alliance has been supporting Key Correspondents – an exciting network of citizen journalists – to share their experiences and speak their world.

The Alliance Technical Support Hubs were set up in 2008 with the aim of providing high-quality, locally sourced technical support to civil society organisations working with HIV or other related areas.
A number of support group members and POZ staff are very sadly presumed dead, trapped in the rubble of the Centre d'Espoir in Port-au-Prince.

In a Latin American first, lawmakers in Mexico City have taken the welcome step to legalise gay marriage and allow gay couples to adopt children. The decision taken in December, will take effect in March 2010.
