The Global Business Council on HIV/AIDS is an international group of businesses dedicated to advocating for an increased business response to AIDS. Its members, companies of all kinds, provide leadership to encourage what they believe to be the crucial participation of the private sector in working to defeat the AIDS epidemic.
The Global Fund to Fight Malaria, AIDS and Tuberculosis was created to finance a dramatic turn around in the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
The International AIDS Economic Network (IAEN) provides data, tools and analysis on the economics of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment in developing countries, for compassionate, cost-effective responses to the global epidemic.
The International AIDS Society (IAS) represents the world’s professional society for scientists, health care and public health workers, and others engaged in HIV/AIDS prevention, control and care.
The International Poverty Centre (IPC) is a joint initiative between UNDP and the Brazilian Government’s Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA) to promote South-South Cooperation on applied poverty research and training. The IPC has already produced more than 170 innovative publications that feed into development policy designed to reduce poverty and inequality. IPC’s research is focused on social protection, cash transfers, MDGs, economic governance, employment generation, gender, pro-poor growth, macroeconomic policies and HIV/AIDS. Our knowledge-sharing network reaches 189 countries.
UNAIDS is the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS. As the leading advocate for worldwide action against HIV/AIDS, UNAIDS strives to lead, strengthen, and support an expanded response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The website provides access to information on global HIV prevention, care and support for those infected and affected by the disease, vulnerable populations, and the socio-economic and human impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. The site also features information on HIV/AIDS by country and subject, as well as a collection of publications, including a Best Practices collection, reports, fact sheets, press releases, and conference listings. UNAIDS regularly publishes a Report on the Global HIV/AIDS Epidemic, as well as periodic AIDS Epidemic Updates.
UNDP the United Nations Development Programme seeks to address the many causes of poverty and to promote development, including through the protection of human rights and the empowerment of women.
UNICEF is the world’s leading organisation working specifically for children. UNICEF works with local communities and governments in 157 countries, areas and territories, to provide emergency relief and run long-term development programmes in areas such as health, education and child protection. In October 2005 UNICEF launched a five year global campaign, Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS to demand resources, protection, education and treatment for children affected by HIV and AIDS
