The International HIV/AIDS Alliance’s (the Alliance) research and evaluation work encompasses operations research with in-country and international partners to gain information to improve programming, solve problems or gauge effectiveness, as well as monitoring and evaluation support to the work of the Alliance and its partners.

A major part of the Alliance’s current operations research work is as one of five partners in the Horizons project – a ten-year global operations research project, directed by the Population Council. The Alliance is also currently involved in a number of monitoring and evaluation projects, including a comprehensive and rigorous evaluation of the Frontiers Prevention Project

The Alliance is working with the five-year Evidence for Action (EfA) programme, funded by the UK Department for International Development, on how to design, manage and deliver comprehensive HIV treatment and care programmes in resource-poor settings. The Alliance is one of seven international partners, led by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
