Expanding Community-Based Support for Orphans and Vulnerable Children

Expanding Community-Based Support for Orphans and Vulnerable Children Expanding community-based support for orphans and vulnerable children (English) 432.8KbOrder publication
To support the increasing numbers of orphans and vulnerable children, there is a pressing need to scale up effective community-based initiatives. This report draws on a workshop co-hosted by the Family AIDS Caring Trust (FACT) and the Alliance in Mutare, Zimbabwe, attended by 17 intermediaries from nine countries, mainly in east and southern Africa. The workshop aimed to understand the range of initiatives working to address this issue in the region, and to look at the ways in which NGOs and their partners can expand their impact and coverage. It includes a range of case studies of participant groups and organisations, and addresses topics such as supporting CBOs and NGOs involved in community responses and creating an enabling environment for scale-up.
