| Involving people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) in HIV/AIDS response activities can improve service delivery, empower them by ending their isolation, curb the effects of stigmatisation and discrimination, and add a powerful voice to prevention activities.
This report provides an overview of a study carried out in India between 1998 and 2001 by the Alliance in collaboration with Horizons, to look at how NGOs have involved PLHA in their response activities. The research focused on 17 NGOs carrying out HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support, in Burkina Faso, Ecuador and Zambia, as well as in India. It explains the methodology of the study and identifies issues to overcome. |
