The involvement of PLHA in the Salvation Army HIV/AIDS community development programme, India (English) 187.2Kb

Involving people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) in HIV/AIDS response activities can improve service delivery, empower them by ending their isolation, curb the effects of stigmatisation and discrimination, and add a powerful voice to prevention activities.

This document is a profile of one organisation in India responding to HIV/AIDS. It was produced as part of a diagnostic study on the involvement of people living with HIV/AIDs (PLHA) in community-based prevention and care activities in developing countries, carried out in Burkina Faso, Ecuador, India and Zambia. It looks at the association’s structure, context and current activities, how far it involves PLHA in these activities, and what impact this involvement has.
